Job Summary: The APQP Quality Engineer is responsible for gathering, organizing, and presenting all PPAP documentation necessary for new production programs to the Quality Manager, Production Manager, and our client's Customer. Along with APQP/PPAP duties and tasks, the Quality Engineer will maintain all quality documents for current production programs. The working environment is approximately fifty percent working in the Quality Engineer office/Quality Lab and fifty percent working on the plant floor.
Job Description:
Tasks:
Balloon blueprints
Construct and maintain the following: control plans, PFMEAs, process flows, inspection instructions, gauge instructions, inspection record sheets, MSA (gauge R&Rs) etc.
Review and name specifications for parts with engineering and check machining fixtures
Consult the manufacturing engineer to complete PFMEAs
Establish and maintain all PPAP quality documentation in Plex Management System according to customer and industry standard requirements
Deliver PPAP documentation and other deliverables to customers in a timely manner
Communicate APQP/PPAP requirements and updates during weekly APQP management meetings and directly with the production manager
Prepare APQP/PPAP, Schedule A reports, Process sign-offs, and other quality documentation
Complete the annual Ford MSA audit
Maintain the annual CQI-9 audit
Coordinate engineering changes both internal and external
Monitor and maintain customer scorecards
Support the yearly IATF16949 internal audit
Lead problem solving activities/line studies on the plant floor for internal and external - customer and supplier - related quality issues
Answer complaints (8D, QR, PRRs) to the customer and prepare quality alerts
Coordinate resolution of purchased part concerns
Act as a champion for quality and work with engineering and manufacturing to implement and verify corrective actions
Review SPC data continually and maintain tracking reports
Provide quality system training for employees
Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management

Able to maintain confidentiality on products, services, and processes
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years' experience as a quality engineer or equivalent position
Bachelors' in Industrial and Systems Engineering or equivalent required
Familiar and proficient with Covisint customer websites
Experience in gauge use, repair, and calibration preferred
Experience with ERP system - Plex Management System preferred
