PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:
The Internal Auditor will assist the Internal Audit Team Lead in evaluating Plaza’s compliance with regulatory and internal requirements, and identify areas for improvement.
           
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company.  Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
  1. Perform routine risk-based testing of Plaza’s internal controls to evaluate their adequacy and effectiveness. 
  2. Perform consulting engagements upon request.
  3. Present and communicate testing results to management and other stakeholders verbally and in writing, as applicable.
  4. Maintain audit work papers in support of results observed and subsequent analysis.
  5. Make preliminary recommendations to management based on the root cause.
  6. Maintain working knowledge of mortgage banking laws and regulations.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College degree required
  • 5 years experience in mortgage lending with 2 years of experience in regulatory compliance, audit, or risk management functions
  • Experience with mortgage origination, processing, underwriting, and closing
  • Knowledge and familiarity with government and agency guidelines
  • Skilled in online and traditional research techniques
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills essential
  • Able to complete tasks on time, with great accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Outstanding ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Superior customer service, including a strong track record of follow-up
  • Proven aptitude to work in both a team and individual environment while maintaining confidentiality
  • Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet Browsers
  • Strong independent judgment skills essential  to making quick decisions within written policy and standard operating procedures essential
