Plaza Home Mortgage has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Senior Vice President, Risk Management with our Corporate headquarters. *This opportunity can be remote and qualified candidates who reside outside of California are encouraged to apply.
 
Plaza Home Mortgage, a leading national TPO based in San Diego, CA is looking for a Senior Vice President, Risk Management to join its leadership team. This senior officer will be responsible for overall risk management and risk and credit policies. They will oversee a range of risk-related activities and report to senior management and risk committees. In addition, they will develop and direct the execution of strategies and risk mitigation activities for the company and manage a team of risk professionals. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years’ experience in mortgage banking with 8+ years of regulatory compliance and management experience. 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:
The SVP, Risk Management will be responsible for managing risk and credit risk for Plaza Home Mortgage. Monitors, oversees and approves a range of risk-related activities, risk-related reports to key senior management and board-level risk committees. Recommends the development, and directs the execution of, strategies and risk mitigation activities. Responsible for the development of the team members, and ensuring appropriate coverage of the functions in an efficient/effective manner.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager. Job duties may change as required by needs of company. Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
  1. Direct and establish risk controls to ensure all functions and divisional branches are in complete compliance with federal, state, regulatory, investor, and company guidelines, and recommend corrective action as needed.
  2. Assess, identify, and evaluate risks and implement processes and procedures to ensure resolution or management of potential threats.
  3. Focus on and direct the analysis assessments, statistical reports, and market trends.
  4. Develop the strategy behind risk management controls designed to eliminate and mitigate potential risks.
  5. Develop contingency plans to manage crises and develop roadmaps for departmental plans.
  6. Recommend overall strategy for risk management processes for Plaza, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur.
  7. Explain the external risk posed by corporate executive team and stakeholders.
  8. Identify emerging risks and recommend/implement solutions to reduce risk.
  9. Direct the development and implementation of consistent operating policies, procedures, and training programs to enhance the productivity of the operations staff and ensure Plaza is alignment with risk compliance.
  10. Direct risk government and investor policies throughout the company.
  11. Act as a liaison to external state, investor, agency, and warehouse line examiners.
  12. Provide training and support to branches on risk related technology and issues.
  13. Direct Risk Management team to evaluate performance and organization trends, and recommend changes to ensure the quality and profitability of the company.
  14. Oversee the Risk department.
  15. Oversee the Licensing department.
  16. Ensure timely submission of quarterly call reports.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College degree in related field or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform duties of the position
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in mortgage banking with 8-10 years of regulatory compliance and management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce accurate work
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task, prioritize work in a high paced environment with heavy volume of transactions
  • Ability and experience handling and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Solid commitment to customer and associate (employee) service
