Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc. has a full-time opportunity for a Broker-Correspondent Approval Specialist in San Diego, California with our Corporate Office.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:
This position is responsible for the approval and maintenance of Plaza Home Mortgage customer accounts, according to Plaza’s criteria and standards, and other applicable state and federal regulations. 
 
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive.  The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company.  Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
  1. Process broker and correspondent applications and annual recertification.
  2. Understand VA & HUD regulations and apply that understanding to account maintenance.
  3. Maintain account passwords and interact with vendors for password setups.
  4. Understand Plaza’s program (ex. – PULSE, DataTrac) and troubleshoot account-related issues as they arise.
  5. Interact with branch staff, sales staff, and management to keep account approvals current and in good standing.
  6. Interact with Plaza customers, providing the information and service they need to help them do business with Plaza.
  7. Manage broker compensation settings.
  8. Use available tools and evaluate available information to reduce Plaza’s risk.
  9. Keep pace with industry changes and adapt to new policies and procedures ensuring compliance in how Plaza does business.
  10. Develop knowledge of state licensing regulations and requirements.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years prior mortgage banking industry or loan processing experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Capability of multi-tasking and prioritizing work in fast-paced environment with heavy volume of transactions as well as the ability to meet and handle deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, and ability to efficiently and consistently produce accurate work
  • Solid commitment to customer and associate service
  • Outstanding problem-solving and independent judgment skills essential to making quick decisions within written policy and standard operating procedures
  • Proven aptitude to work in both a team and individual environment
  • Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet Browsers
