Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc., has a full-time opportunity for an experienced VP, Finance & Treasury in San Diego, California with our Corporate Office.

Plaza offers a full range of agency, non-agency, FHA/VA/USDA, renovation, and reverse mortgage programs through our Wholesale and National Correspondent channels, and maintains a number of regional loan operations centers in major U.S. markets. We conduct business and are licensed in all fifty states.
This position performs effective cash management and plans the organization’s financial strategy.
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive.  The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company.  Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
  1. Direct the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) aligned with the goals and objectives of the organization.
  2. Advise and educate key leaders and managers in the organization on financial and budgeting decisions to make educated economic decisions about the company's future.
  3. Operate as a strategic and hands-on leader across the Accounting/Finance/Treasury Departments.
  4. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function.
  5. Manage Plaza’s cash flow and predictions, working closely with funding and warehouse groups.
  6. Manage warehouse relationships.
  7. Participate in the development of the organization’s fiscal plans and programs.
  8. Evaluate and advise on the impact of short-term and long-range planning.
  9. Develop and implement new programs/strategies/solutions.
  10. Drive the timely and accurate analysis of budgets and financial reports that will assist the executives and leaders in managing their responsibilities.
  11. Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the agency.
  12. Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective problem-solver; be viewed as approachable and as a mentor on financial issues.
  13. Be a financial business partner to foster continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  14. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, e.g., evaluation of financial relationships, warehouse banks, and contracts.
  15. Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  16. Evaluate the treasury department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.
  17. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff members.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as Treasurer, finance officer or relevant role
  • CPA or MBA in Finance
  • In-depth knowledge of wholesale mortgage lending and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSC/MBA is a plus
