Activity STEM Instructor (Photography) at ACDP,  teaches and facilitates in sharing technical knowledge and skills to help inspire STEM through Photography.  Highly motivated, energetic and dedicated instructor to introduce to all Aspects of STEM field relating Photography. The Activity Instructor will teach photography while following and integrating the prescribed curriculum, and prepare students to present their work at the end of each cycle. Through technology and inspiring instruction for education of youth K-5 or  6th-8th grade in focused centered classroom structure. As Instructor, enthusiastic, experienced in teaching STEM instruction with demonstrated passion and experience in specialty, ideally in after-school settings.
Instruction is achieved through a student-centered collaborative process which includes developing inquiry, technique, sharing and cultural experiences, engaging in dialogue rooted in STEM framework. This is a part time position (20/hrs-week). The pay is $17-20.00/Hr
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lesson plans, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for activities.
  • creating lessons and curriculum around all aspects of photography.
  • Sending lesson plans on a weekly basis.
  • Creating supplies list and order purchase lists for required program supplies
  • Implementing and facilitating lesson plans and curriculum throughout the school year
  • Responsible for supervising during activities
  • Ensuring safety of all participants 
  • Maintaining classroom space in an organized and clean fashion
  • Reporting any and all incidents/ injuries and maintaining log
  • Assist with all aspects of programming (i.e. following organizations mission; supervising all youth, working collectively and communicating with all staff)
  • Take initiative to guide program participants through your curriculum and manage group leaders as seen fit
  • Maintain program supplies and proper use of all
  • Help enforce all rules and regulations and codes of conduct
  • Attend all required department/ agency meetings and/ or trainings
  • Must complete 12 hours of trainings as per school- age child care requirements within the first three months of hire
  • Must attend mandatory agency-wide Professional Development trainings 
  • Administrative duties that may include follow up calls/emails to parents
  • Other duties as assigned
  •  Progressive development of student skills leading to a final project
  • Provide support during academic/homework hour
  • Promotes positive character development in all youth
  • Set teaching goals for students.
  • Provide a fun, encouraging, and disciplined atmosphere.
  • Be able to control and motivate groups of pupils.
  • Track student attendance, including late arrival and early departure to address any concerns.
  • Have an understanding of health and safety.
  • Follow administrative and governmental safety and personnel policies, procedures, and ordinances.

  • Must be fully vaccinated against covid-19
  • High School Diploma required. Some college, Associates degree Minimum instruction education. BA/BS(preferred)
  • Experience with adolescents preferred.
  • Experience and/or training relevant to the position required.
  • Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth development and trauma-informed perspective.
  • Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferred.
  • Candidates who are qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity preferred as well.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background check

  • Experience in teaching or tutoring students is preferred Excellent communication skills (oral and written) preferred. Public speaking experience is a plus. Experience with after-school and recreation programs preferred 
  • Responsible, and amazing is preferred! A person of integrity and responsibility.
  • A profound understanding of STEM Field.
  • Teach high quality skills and techniques to Elementary or Middle School Students
  • Able to teach and lead in lesson planning, directing, etc.
  • Collaborate with education Specialist, Director or teachers to direct production
  • Use STEM and leadership techniques to create a positive group dynamic
  • Collaborate to successfully provide high quality programming
  • Participate in staff trainings and meetings
  • Follow the arts curriculum given by supervisors
  • Classroom management and group building
