Although La Liga aims to serve all members of the community, the programs are designed to serve Hispanic households with low-to-moderate incomes. La Liga offers services in different areas: language services, youth leadership and development, health and wellness, and housing and careers.

The Health & Wellness Coordinator will perform administrative and programming duties to measure the department's effectiveness of services. Provide intervention and support to families with health-related situations. Facilitate workshops for fitness and nutrition. Facilitate support groups for men and women that are domestic violence victims. Assist in coordinating all activities within Health & Wellness program services. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.  The salary range is $35,000 to $38,000/annually
 
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                                                                                                                      
  • Coordinate Health & Wellness related activities for the community.
  • Conduct assessment, intake and follow up with client case management.
  • Advocate for clients with disabilities and help them navigate medical and SSI systems.
  • Assist clients and advocate on their behalf for orders of protection and family court matters.
  •  Review client court file to ensure that they are prepared for court with all the necessary documents.
  • Work with legal and law enforcement agencies. Work with individuals and families that are domestic and or sexual violence victims with safety planning, exploring shelter, and providing support groups for men and women.
  •  Establish and maintain relationships with victim service agencies. Work with agency program youth (ages 13 – 21 & ages 10 - 12) to promote healthy relationships and a healthy life.
  • Coordinate donation items needed by agency clients.
  • Attend program and coalition meetings in the community.
  • Promote healthy choices for clients. Coordinate and implement nutrition and fitness education.
  • Work with clients one on one to create fitness and nutrition plans.
  • Social media and Health & Wellness post management.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for program. Ensure compliance with grant program and record keeping requirements.
  • Research additional program funding.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) domestic violence crisis and support hotline coverage 24 hours a day 7 days a week. (Compensation for carrying this hotline is included in employee salary.)
  •  Make appropriate referrals to community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                                              
  • Fully vaccinated against covid-19 required.
  • High School Diploma required. Associate degree preferred or 1-year human service experience.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License Required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), Bicultural (preferred).
