Under the direction of the Site Manager and/or Deputy Site Manager, the Front Desk Clerk is primarily responsible for overseeing the duties and functions of the medical front office area and ensuring that they are carried out with accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Utilize effective communication and customer service skills
Register patients in NextGen, obtain/verify demographics, insurance, sliding fee scale, and other pertinent information from the patients
Conduct prior authorizations and insurance verification
Ensure the privacy of employees/patient's health information according to HIPAA regulations.
Facilitate incoming and outgoing calls, document accurate messages and disseminates appropriately within Nextgen or other means
Provide navigational support to patients with check-in kiosk or other center-issued devices
Maintain/coordinate patient appointments and update information into the EMR
Follow-up on the missed/cancelled appointments, confirm upcoming appointments via telephone/written correspondence
Ensure that all legal standards for medical records are met. This includes that all information sent out meets the legal standards for release of protected health information
Coordinate front office functions with the clinical staff. The supervisor of front office and clinical staff will be in constant communication regarding services provided at the clinic.
Work with Site Manager to ensure the assignment of patients with scheduled clinic appointments
Accept monthly totals on patient data entry errors from the administrative data person and give to front office staff for correction and will be discussed at their regular meetings
Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges.

High School Diploma or GED required
AA/AS in Administration or related field preferred
Excellent customer service and ability to deescalate situations
Minimum of five (2) years of experience with medical record charts, knowledge of ICD-10-CM codes, knowledge of basic medical terminology
Intermediate use of standard Microsoft Office & Internet required
