Details:

The Program Director will oversee operations of the Jail Based Program and Services on Riker's Island and Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Provide supervision to staff he/she is also responsible for contract compliance, completing quarterly reports, managing budget, liaison with DOCS, group scheduling for units, individual supervision and team meetings. Will provide crisis intervention counseling services as needed. Will oversee staff supervision and assignments of volunteers and interns. On call as needed for the project on the weekend. All employees must pass security clearances with NYS Department of Corrections. Position is expected to spend time at Riker's Island and within the community. The salary range is $85-95K

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                                                                                                                   
 
  1. Oversee operations of the Riker's Island Jail Based Program and Services - daily and weekend activities of women.
  2. Hire, supervise and evaluate the work activity of the Jail Based Program and Services staff including weekend coordinator.  
  3. Work with NYC DOC staff to implement and make changes to programming as needed. 
  4. Ensure compliance with NYC DOC Jail Based Program and Services objectives and deadlines
  5. Maintain compliance with scheduling group and staff, reporting and budget  
  6. Provide individual and/or group supervision of staff including monthly programmatic meetings.
  7. Identify evidence-based practices and implement groups to meet the needs of population including social/recreational activities. 
  8. Perform utilization reviews, monitoring case records, ensuring compliance with all contract stipulations.
  9. Conduct periodic audit of client services.
  10. Work with all department senior management staff and interdisciplinary treatment team to assist with meeting stated goals.
  11. Work with data analyst to track all contact with participants in paper-based and/or electronic case management systems.  
  12. Provide crisis intervention with clients and facilitate groups as needed.
  13. Provide training to staff as needed.
  14. May participate in local meetings, conferences, coalitions, etc. to benefit the Jail Based Program and Services
  15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                             
 
  1. MSW/MA, LCSW/LCSW-R, CASAC and equivalent
  2. A minimum of 5 years working with women including individuals who were formally incarcerated and at least 2 years supervisory experience. 
  3. Must have knowledge of gender specific programming and trauma informed care. 
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills; computer proficiency; excellent writing and verbal skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to interact with women of different races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment, as well as ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  6. Available to work a minimum of 2 to 3 evening shifts to accommodate client and program needs.
  7. Must past DOC security screening.
  8. Bilingual - English and Spanish Preferred
