The Assistant Program Director at J-CAP follows the Program Director’s direction to ensure quality care by overseeing the functions of the Residential Program according to OASAS regulatory and accreditation requirements.  The APD is responsible for the oversight and implementation of care and resources for the purpose of meeting the physical, emotional, and social needs of program participants and the supervision and development of clinical staff. All clinical processes fall under the purview of the APD.  Must possesses excellent customer service skills and be able to develop internal and external resources and customer relationships.
 
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                                                                                                                      
  • Assist Program Director in service delivery consistent with the agency mission, policy & procedures, and processes.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations for the OASAS 819 residential program.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, direction, and supervision to all clinical staff.
  • Ensure that clinical programming and interventions meet the needs the needs of population.
  • Assist Program Director in supervising the clinical managers of the residential program (e.g. clinical supervisors, admissions manager, medication nursing manager, vocational staff, etc.)
  • Oversee the Admissions Department, assuring that all admissions protocols are followed and admitted clients are appropriate for a residential level of care.
  • Oversee the Clinical Supervisors’ supervision of the Vocational/Educational Department, ensuring that clients are receiving vocational services consistent with the agency mission and closely coordinated with clinical needs.
  • Participate in program evaluation activities and deliver services using evidenced-based practices.
  • Ensure that agency Policy & Procedures are up-to-date, consistent with OASAS regulations and J-CAP/Acacia Network standards, and are readily accessible and understood by all staff.
  • Establish and foster community/provider relationships.
  • Participate in agency management and planning activities.
  • Oversee clinical supervisors in the provision of individual and group supervision to clinical counselors and other clinical staff.   
  • Meet regularly with Program Director to discuss and monitor program effectiveness.
  • Review OASAS Website, keeping updated with819 regulations and local service bulletins.
  • Provide crisis intervention with clients, as needed.
  • Facilitate Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and staff development activities.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance (QA) and Utilization Review (UR) protocols.
  • Conduct, attend and participate in local and national meetings, conferences, coalitions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
 
 
 
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:                                                                                                                              
  • Have experience working with individuals who have a substance use disorder
  • Experience working with the population of the program
  • Strong leadership, excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to multitask and to work and function under pressure
 
EDUCATION REQUIRED:                                                                                                                    
  • Master’s Degree in social work, counseling or related field with three years supervisory experience or Bachelor’s degree with five years supervisory experience.
  • Must possess a CASAC, CRC, LMHC, LMFT, or LMSW, or be a qualified health professional (QHP).
    • Completion of the OASAS Clinical Supervision training, I and II.
  • Trained and certified in naloxone delivery to treat opioid overdose, or trained within 7 days, post hire.
