This key leadership role is in a high-growth, high-energy, high-profit portfolio company of big thinkers and big doers. It is a CPG / beverage / dietary supplement company with a history of strong profitable growth as the number one product and brand in its emerging category with a proven track record of saving lives and improving outcomes for families across the globe.  Through its expanding sales and distribution network, they are building a team to take current and new products to the global market and achieve exponential growth. With the leadership team formed, the opportunity is now to define and refine the cross functional integrated strategy, and lead the team to grow revenue 2-5x in under 24 months, while maintaining profit, and successfully accomplishing strategic sale of the business in under 24 months.  


THE ROLE 


We are on the lookout for an exceptionally dynamic and experienced Vice President of Government Relations &  Public Affairs  to join one of operating portfolio businesses  at the forefront of the botanical sector. This critical role is strategically designed to drive advancements in scientific research, elevate functional education, and lead robust regulatory and legislative advocacy initiatives that champion the sustainable use and long-term viability of botanicals. The selected candidate will be pivotal in artfully crafting, coordinating, communicating, and ardently advocating for the company's policy positions at various governmental levels, including federal, state, and local.


In this high-impact position, the Vice President will not only establish and nurture ongoing relationships with key government policymakers and influential figures within major trade associations but also engage with a variety of external agencies to further the company's interests. The role demands strategic alliances with Elevation Capital's Founder and the Executive Team, playing an integral part in the overarching decision-making processes that shape the future of the business.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 


  • Develop, coordinate, and implement an integrated government relations and public relations strategy to support the company's business interests in the United States.   

  • Develop and execute long-term government relations strategy in partnership with senior leadership and external strategy partners. 

  • Develop and execute long-term public relations strategy in partnership with senior leadership and external strategy partners.

  • Lead successful execution against near-term goals 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and a sophisticated network with relevant government officials, legislative offices, industry partners and thought leaders in order to influence public discourse in support of company interests. 

  • Represent the company before the Congress, Federal Administration, state and local governments and other related organizations on issues related to the company's business, advocating outcomes sought by the organization. 

  • Serve as a critical thought leader for the company on any developments in the government market. 

  • Enhance the company's presence in Washington DC and create a national platform on which the company's positions can be articulated. 

  • Build strong relationships with internal business leaders, working proactively to keep them well-informed about political, legislative and regulatory developments impacting business activities in the United States. 

  • Provide leadership and oversight in initiating projects that will positively impact the company's relationship with policymakers. 

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure message discipline and policy consistency. 

  • Create a library of original thought leadership content that can be leveraged to communicate the company's brand value proposition to internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Represent interests of the company and advances its policy interests in relevant trade associations and advocacy groups. 

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

 
Job Requirements

 

  • 10+ years combined related experience in government affairs, health or public policy related, preferably working with founder/entrepreneur and global team 

  • Proven experience using science to advance government relations goals. 

  • Extensive relationships with members of Congress, their staffs, administration officials and policy personnel at relevant federal agencies such as FDA, HHS, and NIDA. Experience dealing with WHO is considered a plus. 

  • Demonstrated experience (or success) working in a bipartisan fashion to achieve results 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with government decision makers and influencers. 

  • Strong team building and coalition experience, including working with government relations, public affairs and public relations firms. 

  • Impeccable reputation with a strong commitment to the ethics rules in Congress and the executive branch. 

  • Extensive strategic planning experience including leadership of the framework and process in a multi-business environment. 

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills. 

  • Experience managing complex issues. 

  • Very strong references, which you reported to, that support your suitability for this role.   



Compensation 

This role is an executive  level role. You will be compensated with a strong base, and an aggressive bonus plan based on profitability, positive cash flow and growth. You will receive top level options with highly lucrative near term exit objectives.
