Position Summary:
We are currently hiring Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (Bilingual Spanish/English) for our School Based Health Care Department. Health Care Services Representatives, or 'HCSR II"s', are Nationally Certified Phlebotomists that possess a Medical Assistant Certificate.
 
Within School Health, the HCSR-II will work out of our Elmhurst High School location in Queens. The position comes with a Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm schedule. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant AND National Certification as Phlebotomy Technician required OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), required.
  • Candidates with previous experience in a health care or school based setting strongly preferred. 
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents, a strong plus. 
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • Knowledge of taking vital signs, phlebotomy, and medical administration tasks. 
  • Ability to work full time Monday through Friday.
Key Duties:
  • Process blood draws and administers PPDs when required. Collects specimens for laboratory testing.   
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment.
  • Participates in health and wellness activities and health education when required. 
  • Obtain vital signs, chief complaints, and medical history and accurately records in medical records.
  • Completes referrals and discharges patients.
  • Assists providers and nurses during all aspects of exams.
  • Assist provider during visit with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Schedules appointments, verifies insurance and demographic information.
  • Processes diagnostic orders.

Starting Compensation: Minimum $21.00 per hour ($43,680 annually); Maximum $21.00 per hour ($43,680 annually) + Additional $1,500 in differential pay.
