Position Summary
We are currently hiring a Temporary Revenue Cycle Specialist that focuses on managing insurance payment and resolving claim denials to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The role involves reviewing explanation of benefits, identifying discrepancies, submitting appeals, and correcting claim errors as needed. The goal is to minimize revenue loss and reduce outstanding accounts receivable.
Although remote, position requires some monthly onsite needs including training, meetings, and scanning documents within offices on the Bronx. With this in mind, applicants must reside locally to the New York City market.
Key Duties:
- Provide support across all payers, with a primary focus on resolving aging claims.
- Work onsite one to two times weekly to scan paper remittances.
- Communicate any findings, discrepancies, or issues requiring assistance in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational needs.
- Accountable for working payor denials and keeping report for follow-up actions.
- Accountable for reporting on underpaid/overpaid claims.
- Accountable for adjusting balances for paid claims in the system.
- Accountable for communicating with various departments regarding payors rules and regulations.
- Accountable for keeping reports for provider representative for payor adjudication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Computer literacy.
- Proficiency in accounts receivable, billing, and patients accounts.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and MS Office (Excel).
- Requires 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle operations.
Starting Compensation: Minimum: $21.90/hour, $45,460 annually
Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Intermittent Hybrid, 40-hour shift Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm or 9:00am- 6pm. The temporary assignment will be upon hire to October 2026.
