Position summary:
We are currently hiring a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our Adolescent Health and Wellness Center in the Bronx. The Patient Service Presentative provides information, support, encouragement, and assistance to patients and families as they arrive at the health care facility. This role greets and registers patients and visitors, verifies and records patient information, and provides comfort and empathy to patients while maintaining the waiting room. This role provides accurate and consistent information to patients, schedule appointments, and resolves patient concerns at the same time adheres to patient confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with clerical/administrative functions is required, ideally in a health care setting. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Previous experience working with youth or teen-based communities is a huge plus.  
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional experience to patients.
  • Understanding of phone etiquette and standard office procedures.  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  
 
Key Duties:
  • Greets patients and identified their needs.
  • Registers and verifies patient demographics.
  • Provides comfort and empathy to patients while maintaining the waiting room.
  • Provides accurate and consistent information to patients
  • Schedules appointment and recall patients for required services.
  • Helps to maintain charts and provide administrative support to the department.
  • Completes prior authorizations. 
  • When applicable, review sliding fee scales and engages in cash collection.
  • Adheres to patient confidentiality.
 
Starting Compensation: $19.50 per hour based on 40 hours per week ($40,560 annualized). 

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Candidates must be available to work onsite based in our Adolescent Health and Wellness Center located in 960 Southern Boulevard. Candidates must be available to work 5-day shifts Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm
