Position Summary:
The Referrals Specialist I is a position that specializes in patient information management for Urban Health Plan. This role is stationed in our flagship location's Dental Department supports the referral process by assisting with administrative and supports the referral process by assisting with administrative and clerical tasks related to patient referrals for specialty dental services. This role ensures that referrals are processed accurately and efficiently, helping maintain continuity of care and supporting the clinical team.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- 1 year of related experience in health care field with understanding of medical terminology, referrals, prior authorizations is required.
- Knowledge of dental practice is a huge plus.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required.
- Microsoft Office Proficient and ability to handle high volume data in electronic health records.
Key Duties:
- Initiate, track ,manage and update referral status in the system.
- Inputs high volume of patient information and ancillary referrals for appointments via phone and fax.
- Manages process for sending patients to dental specialists, ensuring seamless communications between offices.
- Process and enter dental referrals into the system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Seeks prior authorization from patient insurance carriers.
- Responds in a timely manner to patient and departmental requests for information.
- Ensures ongoing compliance with confidentiality standards.
Compensation: $19.50/hour based on 40 regular hours per week.
