Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant in Behavioral Health supports the care team by prepping patients for visits, obtaining vital signs, conducting screenings, and ensuring accurate electronic health record documents. This role helps maintain efficient patient flow and a safe, trauma-informed environment while contributing to the quality of care for the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required, and Medical Assistant Certificate or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- 1+ years of related experience in the healthcare/mental health/behavioral health sector is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Proficiency with computers, software, handling sensitive information.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-volume environment.

Key Duties:
- Prepare patients for visits by obtaining vital signs, completing screenings, and updating histories in the EHR.
- Support providers during clinical sessions.
- Coordinate care by scheduling follow-ups, facilitating referrals, and communicating with patients and team members.
- Assist with administrative and clinical tasks that support high-quality, patient-centered
- Registers and verifies patient demographics.
- Schedules appointments and recalls patients for required services.
- Maintains efficient patient flow and a safe, organized, and trauma-informed clinical environment.
Starting Compensation: Minimum: $23.00/hour; Maximum: $23.00/hour

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Candidates must possess availability to work onsite based out of our Bronx Community Health Center, El Nuevo San Juan working Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, with alternating Saturday shifts with a day off during the week.
