Position summary:
We are currently hiring a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our Pediatric department at El Nuevo San Juan (ENSJ) in the Bronx. The Patient Service Presentative provides information, support, encouragement, and assistance to patients and families as they arrive at the health care facility. This role greets and registers patients and visitors, verifies and records patient information, and provides comfort and empathy to patients while maintaining the waiting room. This role provides accurate and consistent information to patients, schedule appointments, and resolves patient concerns.

 Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with clerical/administrative functions is required, ideally in a health care setting. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional experience to patients.
  • Understanding of phone etiquette and standard office procedures.  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  
 
Key Duties:
  • Greets patients and identified their needs.
  • Verifies insurance information through managed care website.
  • Answers incoming calls and takes messages for providers.
  • Registers patients, assigns PCP (when applicable), checks demographic information, updates information as needed.
  • Schedules appointment and reschedule no shows appointments.
  • Helps to maintain charts and provide administrative support to the department.
  • Distributes forms for completion, HIPPA, Verification letters, and submission, scanning patient documentation.
  • Supports addressing referrals and other duties or project if assigned.

Compensation: $19.50 per hour based on 40 hours per week ($40,560 annualized). 

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Candidates must be available to work onsite based in our Southern Boulevard Health Center. Candidates must possess availability to work 5-day shifts including Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm and 9am-6pm shifts with rotating Saturdays (and day off during week).
