Position Summary:
Joining our Purchasing and Procurement Department, the Purchasing Assistant executes day-to-day purchasing activities for medical supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and services across Urban Health Plan's 12 primary care sites, 2 mental health facilities, and 12 school-based health centers. This role works closely with the Director of Pharmacy Procurement to implement medication and medical supply purchasing recommendations, and collaborates with clinical staff, procurement leadership, and finance teams to ensure timely procurement, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
The Purchasing Assistant processes purchase requisitions, creates purchase orders, negotiates pricing with suppliers, manages vendor relationships, and tracks deliveries across multiple sites. This position plays a critical operational role in ensuring UHP clinical teams have the supplies, medications, and resources that are essential to our operations and the delivery of high quality patient care. Collaborates with clinical staff, procurement leadership, and finance teams to ensure timely procurement, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, required with a minimum of 2-5 years of established experience in purchasing and procurement.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Familiarity with purchasing software, fiscal software, and Microsoft office suite.
Starting Compensation: Minimum $26.50 per hour; Maximum $29.00 per hour

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
This is a fully onsite role based in the Bronx, NY requiring a commitment of Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.
