Position Summary:
As we approach the opening of a brand-new outpatient health center in the Bronx that is geared towards our medical sub-specialties at UHP, we are seeking a dynamic Director of Nursing to join the specialty team. The DoN will work together with our Site Administrator and under the clinical supervision of our Chief Nursing Officer.
The DON upholds the department's philosophy and goals, standards for nursing practice and the management and development of nursing personnel inclusive of the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and Phlebotomists. Provides clinical troubleshooting, guidance, training, and evaluation of clinical support staff, promoting an environment of ongoing learning and growth.
While administrative, training, and compliance duties are essential to this role, we are seeking a hands-on nurse leader who can prepare for an audit but will jump in just as readily to administer a vaccine if they see their nurses are swamped that day.
Key Duties:
- Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing standards for the clinic.
- Collaborate with Administrative staff and other personnel in planning services for the patients.
- Direct supervision of nurses and medical assistants, including hiring, onboarding, 1-1 meetings, training, performance management, employee relations, managing payroll/time off.
- Communicate with CNO and leadership to provide input and guidance on nursing needs in the center.
- Participate in determining resources and support needed or Nursing Dept. and daily operations.
- Collaborates with the site leadership to promote quality patient care and effective staff relations.
- Oversight of estimated needs including supplies and equipment ' and determination as well as communication of all employees
- Participates in the preparation of the emergency contingency plan by specifying the responses of the nursing staff in case of internal or external disaster
- Participates in policy decisions that affect patient care services
- Provide Quality Management direction and oversight for nursing and ancillary activities
- Oversee and controls supplies that directly impact patient care (e.g., ordering and charging of stock medications, medical supplies and patient care equipment and/or supplies)
- Actively participates in Quality Management Committee (QMC) and Nursing team meeting, and ensures that regular monitors are conducted and reported on
- Provides assistance to Registered Nurses in the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Nursing required.
- 5 years' experience in clinical nursing; 3 to 5 years' experience in administrative/supervisory capacity.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Background in medical specialties is a huge plus (e.g. Cardio, Endo, Allergy, ENT, Derm, Neuro, etc).
- Exemplary communication skills.
- Fundamental understanding of primary care/ambulatory nursing.
Starting Compensation: Minimum $135,000/annum; Maximum $145,000/annum.
Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Onsite, Bronx, NY, Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional Saturdays flexed as needed.
