Are you passionate about information technology and skilled in computer systems and networks? We're seeking a talented individual to join our client's team as a Systems and Networks Technician. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining personal computers, local and wide area networks, and associated peripheral equipment. This is a temp-to-hire position located near Albany, NY.
Responsibilities of the Systems and Networks Technician will include:
Install and maintain personal computers and networks, including peripheral equipment.
Install wiring and fiber optic cables as needed.
Configure file servers, print servers, communications servers, network switches, personal computers, and printers.
Diagnose computer and network problems on-site or remotely, working closely with help desk staff and users.
Collaborate with vendors to configure and troubleshoot routers, circuit problems, and third-party software applications.
Perform upgrades to computers and peripheral equipment.
Test wiring and ensure proper functionality.
Maintain various non-personal computer user interfaces.
Assist in testing new operating systems and software titles for compatibility and functionality.
Stay up to date with current trends in information technology by attending seminars and technical education classes.
Job Requirements
Qualifications of the Systems and Networks Technician:
Bachelor's Degree in management information systems, computer science, information resources management, information technology, or related field plus one year of relevant experience; or
Associate's Degree in relevant field plus two years of experience; or
High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience.
Completion of a college-level computer science or related course may substitute for experience.
Completion of a technical training institute or corporate training program may substitute for experience, with proof of coursework completion.
Working knowledge of personal computers and local and wide area networks.
Ability to install and configure office computer systems and networks.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with users and vendors.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and education, ranging roughly from $25/hr.
