We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HybridSenior Telecommunications Engineer to join our client's team near Albany, NY. As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of our telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities of the Senior Telecommunications Engineer will include:
Conducting system software and hardware changes, troubleshooting, and maintenance for various telecommunications systems such as
Performing repairs, installations, and maintenance of telephone sets, headsets, and wiring.
Researching and recommending system purchases, contributing to telecommunications budgeting, and participating in project planning processes.
Researching, negotiating, recommending, and implementing contracts with various telecommunications service providers, maintenance providers, equipment vendors, and cellular service providers, while coordinating support for smartphones.
Coordinating with vendor account representatives and service technicians to address system changes and resolve system issues.
Designing, developing, testing, and implementing custom reporting and routing programming for auto attendant and call center services.
Being on call and working alternate hours as necessary to ensure continuous availability of services during business hours.
Job Requirements
Qualifications of the Senior Telecommunications Engineer:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 4 years of experience supporting enterprise telecommunications infrastructure and related services, or equivalent experience.
Previous hands on experience supporting Genesys phone systems
Comprehensive knowledge of VoIP hardware, software, and programming, including voice messaging and contact center servers.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Previous experience with project management and disaster recovery preferred, not necessary
Demonstrated project management and business planning abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to work alternate hours, including evenings and weekends.
Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and education, ranging roughly from $35-$40/hr.
