Operations Manager

Location: Near Troy, NY
Salary: $70,000+ (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Overview

Our construction and heavy equipment client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to coordinate daily field operations, manage scheduling, and support multiple work crews. This role is responsible for ensuring projects run smoothly by organizing resources, communicating with field teams, and maintaining accurate operational records.


The Operations Manager acts as a key connection between field crews and company leadership, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations Management

  • Plan and organize daily work schedules for multiple field crews
  • Provide direction to crew foremen and yard staff to ensure projects stay on schedule
  • Monitor work progress and address operational issues as they arise


Scheduling & Resource Coordination

  • Use internal systems to build daily schedules and assign work to crews
  • Determine required manpower, equipment, and materials for each project
  • Prepare job documentation, including maps, permits, lift plans, and work orders


Communication & Coordination

  • Serve as the main point of contact for field crews during the workday
  • Communicate job requirements and updates to crews, customers, and internal staff
  • Maintain strong working relationships with employees and leadership teams


Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed records of job activity, daily tickets, and operational data
  • Submit required permits and documentation for projects involving specialized equipment
  • Ensure operational information is accurately entered into internal systems


Team Support & Problem Solving

  • Assist crews in resolving operational challenges in the field
  • Assign and monitor shop or yard tasks when crews are not in the field
  • Participate in regular operational and safety meetings with management

 
Job Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or related operations
  • Strong understanding of project coordination, scheduling, and crew management
  • Experience working with construction crews, equipment, or industrial services preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and database systems
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
