Our client in Troy, NY, is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to manage the financial operations of a multi-property portfolio. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO, offering the opportunity to work closely with leadership while playing a critical role in financial oversight, reporting, and process improvement. This position is best suited for a seasoned accounting professional who is confident, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced real estate environment.
Responsibilities of the Property Accountant will include:
- Manage the full financial accounting for multiple properties within an assigned portfolio
- Prepare monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, and related supporting schedules
- Oversee cash management, cash flow analysis, and financial projections
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Generate financial and operational reports to support property and executive management
- Lead and manage the annual budgeting process in collaboration with Property and Regional Managers
- Upload and manage budgets and financial data within property management and budgeting systems
- Analyze variances to budget and provide explanations to owners, executives, and management
- Prepare depreciation schedules and review asset activity
- Support new property acquisitions, developments, and transitions into accounting operations
- Provide guidance to Accounts Payable staff and support accounting interns as needed
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
- Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend efficiencies to leadership
- Prepare ad hoc reports related to cash flow, projections, and management requests
