Position Title: Audio-Visual Pre-Sales Support Engineer Location: Hybrid - Saratoga, NY or Boston, MA
Salary: $85,000 - $120,000
Overview
A growing technology integration firm is seeking an Audio-Visual Project Engineer to join its team of industry professionals. This hybrid role combines technical expertise with customer engagement, supporting the sales cycle from initial discovery through solution design and proposal development. The ideal candidate has a strong background in AV system design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate client needs into innovative, high-performing technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the sales team to provide technical insight and guidance throughout the pre-sales process.
Conduct on-site assessments and discovery meetings to evaluate client requirements, site conditions, and technical constraints.
Design and engineer tailored AV solutions aligned with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
Develop detailed documentation, including schematics, line drawings, and technical specifications.
Prepare cost estimates, quotes, and proposals, collaborating with operations and project management teams for accuracy.
Deliver professional presentations and demonstrations to clients, articulating technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor during customer meetings and negotiations.
Collaborate with project and installation teams to ensure the seamless execution of designed solutions.
Maintain a strong understanding of emerging AV technologies, products, and industry standards.
Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and industry events to enhance technical knowledge and professional growth.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the Audio-Visual industry, with a focus on pre-sales engineering, system design, or technical consulting.
Strong understanding of AV systems and platforms, including video conferencing (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex), digital signage, audio systems, and control platforms (Crestron, AMX, Extron).
Experience using industry-standard design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio) and project management platforms.
Familiarity with audio tuning, equalization, DSP configuration, and system networking.
AVIXA certifications (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D, or CQT) strongly preferred.
Networking certifications or equivalent training a plus.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
Additional Information
This hybrid position allows flexibility to work between the Saratoga, NY or Boston, MA offices, with occasional travel for client meetings and site visits.
