We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our client's accounting team located near Albany, NY. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of accounting transactions and supporting the company's general administrative functions. Responsibilities of the Senior Accountantwill include:
Collaborate with the Project Management team to review project status and prepare customer billings, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.
Maintain organized billing files and documentation for all projects, including expenses and consultant invoices, in line with company procedures.
Set up and manage projects, contracts, and budget change orders in Sage Software.
Act as the liaison with insurance brokers and bonding companies to ensure contract compliance.
Oversee compliance reporting for NYS contracts related to labor, vendors, and subcontractors.
Process weekly payroll and coordinate employee distribution according to company policies.
Prepare and submit union reports accurately and on time; track and manage union rate changes.
Administer company nonunion benefits.
Process bank deposits and perform bank reconciliations in Sage Software.
Review accounts receivable aging and follow up with customers on past due balances.
Approve invoices in HH2 and handle credit application requests.
Close out subcontracts and purchase orders upon project completion.
Support the Estimating team by managing the bid calendar, preparing bid forms, and coordinating bid submissions.
Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Job Requirements
Qualifications of the Senior Accountant:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, project invoicing, and billing.
Experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with construction software and Sage 100 Contractor is a plus.
Flexibility in work schedule, including occasional overtime and weekend work.
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Capability to manage shifting priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
Strong multitasking skills with a detail-oriented approach.
Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and education, ranging roughly from $60,000 - $90,000.
