Job Description

Director of Engineering -  Responsible for coordinating all technical activities of assigned team and programs including planning, scheduling, and managing personnel and engineering work to ensure effective execution. Manages senior technical staff, including implementing performance reviews. Responsible for proactively developing, assigning and driving improvement initiatives. Possesses sufficient technical knowledge and experience to manage larger teams and assist in RCCA efforts.
  • Able to translate strategy into effective action to align and move the organization forward
  • Drives execution of the site engineering team in bid/proposals, scope definition, development, estimating, value creation, production support and post-delivery support
  • Collaborates across sites to identify and deploy best practices
  • Directly manages senior engineering managers, managers and principal engineers
  • Mentors and implements performance review process with direct reports
  • Oversees overall performance review process for assigned organization
  • Delivers strong personal capability while a supportive team player
  • Effectively communicates expectations to personnel in assigned organization
  • Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned organization
  • Strives to implement a positive work environment with world class execution
  • Proactively supports VP of Engineering in leading the entire EPEX engineering organization
  • Proactively drives leadership sponsored initiatives and guides others in doing so
  • Manages their assigned annual operating budget effectively
  • Tenacious and emotionally resilient in the face of changing requirements
  • Sets and achieves goals. Makes commitments and keeps them
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customers
  • Develops and maintains strong partnership with Manufacturing
  • Defines and drives concepts such as DFMA, Lean, RCCA Rapid Prototyping and Workflow
  • Supports, communicates and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards and expect reports to do likewise
  • Available for travel as required

Job Requirements

BS Engineering from accredited school required; MS Engineering, PE License or MBA preferred
Ten plus years of experience including technical management experience required; advanced technical expertise required
  • Able to work independently on a weekly basis
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor others
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
