Job Description

Title:                           Assembly Supervisor & Senior Service Technician                       
Reports to:               FMF Plant Manager
Purpose:                   Supervising all shift employees in the Assembly department and complies with all safety, quality, quantity and housekeeping standards.
Reports:                    Assembly employees.
Scope of Position:
I           Assembly Department Supervisor
  • Supervises and coordinates all activities of assembly employees schedule equipment production in the Assembly department, assessing staffing needs and directing employees to successfully assemble machines to include:
    • Analyzes work orders to determine production schedules.
    • Supervises all personnel and operations on the shift.
    • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment on the floor, reporting any process or equipment problems.
    • Ensures that all established policies, rules, regulations and procedures are strictly adhered to.
    • Supervises rigging and loading of equipment for shipment and verifying all paperwork is properly maintained.
    • Track parts required for assembly
    • Assist and conduct repairs and maintenance of machine shop equipment
    • Studies present layout of equipment to effect changeover of assembly line for processing new models.
II          Senior Service Technician
  • Travels to/from customers foreign and domestically to service, repair and troubleshoot all of the products produced.
  • Assesses machinery and orders parts accordingly.
  • Repairs the machines on-site until they are in working order.
  • Consults with the on-site Plant Manager as well as the Service Manager to ensure correct parts, drawings and materials are being used to complete the job.
  • Responsible for building maintenance at the location to include all repairs, maintenance of equipment and moving of machines, materials, etc within the building.
  • Member of the Safety Committee
    Specific behaviors:   
    • Instill a high sense of urgency into all actions of the assembly department ensuring that proper time and activities are carried out.
    • Keep management at all times informed about problems with products in the filed and supply appropriate data to engineering, assembly and management to effectively analyze current and prevent field problems
    • Be a self-starter, originating action rather than simply responding to circumstance. 
    • Use compelling/creative approaches and presentations to link customer needs to Formtek product features and services.
    • Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with after sales support to resolve any issues that arise focusing on achieving customer satisfaction and timely delivery of the product.
    The employee will directly supervise dedicated assembly employees engineers located in Cleveland. Must work closely with the Plant Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years experience in a mechanical/manufacturing/assembly and roll test environment.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to able to physically conduct repairs on machines, requiring lifting, climbing onto, taking apart all types and sizes of machines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently, while also having the ability to work through others
  • Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates, and supervisors.
    • The minimum education required is a high school diploma and hands-on knowledge of machine building and roll testers and forms.


    Certain additional knowledge and/or skills are required for satisfactory performance in this position may have been gained through a combination of academic study, specialized training, and job experience.  Other requires knowledge/skills:
    • PC skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
    • Strong mechanical knowledge.
