The Welder/Fitter/Fabricator permanently joins two metal parts by melting these parts and joining them together to form structures.
Responsibilities
Uses safe work habits and participates in safety related activities such as tool-box talks, safety training, and meetings.
Conduct workplace safety observations.
Maintain site and department housekeeping standards
Repetitively lifting materials weighing up to 50# for possibly 8+ hours
Operate machinery including fork lift, power tools and hand tools, welding equipment, cutting torches, steel saws, iron workers
Reads and understands blueprints, welding symbols and job instructions.
Welds in flat, vertical or overhead positions
Clamps, holds, tack-weld, or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using available welding methods
Monitors the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
Will lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to final assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, rulers, jigs, templates and tape measures
When not in the process of welding, performs other duties as assigned by Production Manager
Accurately and completely fills out required paperwork and submits to Production Manager
Has the ability to repair structural frames that are twisted, rusted or burned apart so that they are as close to original specifications as possible or within engineering tolerances.

Qualifications
High School Diploma, Welding certifications and work related experience
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to follow instruction
Ability to read and clearly understand construction blueprints
Reliability of attendance, ability to work extended overtime as needed
Pass necessary forklift driving and written safety class coursework
Understand function of machine(s) and tools used by individual
