The BIM Coordinator works directly with project teams to assist the project’s delivery throughout design and construction utilizing Building Information Modeling. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and closing out of BIM deliverables at the project specific level.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Provide BIM modeling and design support for Project Managers during the planning, design, and construction of typical electrical projects.
Coordinate and manage Revit models.
Utilize models to support Estimating:
Perform and Document Quantity take-off reports.
Generate 3D/4D Site logistics plans.
Ability to create Presentation material/ visual aids.
Utilize models to support Construction Operations:
Coordination of with other trades (underground, overhead, virtual clearances).
Manage coordination of work with fellow subcontractors utilizing Navisworks.
Attending project meetings to resolve technical coordination issues.
Notifying Project Managers of changes that might impact material and labor costs.
Review clash detection reports and clear all clashes in weekly Clash Reports.
Work with Total Station Operators and PMs to establish Trimble layout points in model.
Edit Revit families.
Review all work for completeness and accuracy against directions given.
Use checklists set up for quality control on each project and submit work according to deadlines.
Provide an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis.
Observe professional ethics.
3+ years of work experience in Revit for electrical systems.
Ability to create Revit files and manipulate files created by others.
Ability to edit Revit families.
Knowledge of clash detection using Navisworks.
Thorough understanding of electrical design and building special coordination.
Knowledge of NFPA 70.
Knowledge of typical file transfer methods (FTP, Box, Dropbox, Newforma, etc).
Strong computer and software skills including but not limited to Revit, Navisworks, BIM360Glue, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam.
Minimum Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school.
Experience deemed equivalent to Associates Degree.
