Job Description

Seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join an excellent engineering company downtown Minneapolis. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for the complete technical aspect of the project
  • Coordinate the staff activities with the Project Manager, ensuring achievement of project budget, schedule and quality
  • Develop, maintain, and master knowledge of design and CAD applications
  • Develop, maintain, and teach other designers the construction process
  • Prepare project task list and delegate work to the project team
  • Coordinate the development of Schematic Design information, such as equipment selections, room sizes, space requirements, and writing a scope narrative
  • Research equipment, make selections, and complete equipment schedules
  • Incorporate design concepts from Schematic Design into Design Development
  • Work with the project team to produce Construction Documents
  • Coordinate documentation of existing conditions and analyze operation of existing systems utilizing assistance from the project team and providing guidance
  • Lay out the complete systems for the project
  • Responsible for calculations such as building HVAC loads, energy calculations, lighting and power distribution calculations, technology systems capacities, and equipment sizing
  • Coordinate and review the drafting and documentation of entire projects, including providing sketches and design concepts for Project Team to document
  • Provide engineering solutions with the project team using experience, judgment and education
  • Coordinate ceiling, wall clearances, and structural impacts with design team and other design professionals
  • Create specialized diagrams such as plumbing isometrics or system risers
  • Responsible for writing specifications and incorporating project specific information
  • Select, modify, and develop details that will be used on projects
  • Coordinate value engineering, by providing input on opportunities for cost reductions
  • Coordinate attendance at construction meetings and production of site observation reports
  • Review shop drawings and coordinate with project team for further review
  • Coordinate responses to construction Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Coordinate punch lists, addendums and project change documentation efforts


Job Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years experience
  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including hardware and software applications
  • General knowledge of all aspects of systems design
  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited technical University in mechanical engineering and the completion of the Professional Engineering License exam OR Technical or associate degree from an accredited technical institution or college in the engineering design areas of HVAC and plumbing
