Job Description

The Controls Application Engineer (SAE) assists the sales team as the primary technical resource for all new opportunities. The SAE is responsible for overseeing all phases of new programs and projects from inception to shipment to assure they meet both customer requirements and adhere to UL standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Work with Customer and Sales to fully understand new opportunities and provide technical support during the initial investigation phase
2) Review Customer designs and documentation to assure they meet applicable UL and NEC requirements
3) Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and labor estimates for new opportunities
4) Work with various departments to identify any special requirement, tooling and/or investments that may be required to make the opportunity successful.
5) Develop production documentation using CAD software
6) Provide production support on pilot and prototype builds
7) Work with customer to gather feedback on pilot units to implement on future builds
8) Successful transitioning of stable business to the Production Engineering team.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Mentor others in industrial control panel design
2) Provide technical support to peers
3) Attend technical or trade show meetings, read related publications and continue to achieve engineering excellence
4) Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions


Job Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:
1) Associates in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
2) 5 year minimum industry experience.
3) UL 508A Control Panel Design experience
4) UL 698, UL 698A is preferred but not required
5) CAD experience
6) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
7) Hands on manufacturing or repair experience is preferred
