Business Development Executive – External Medical Engagement Services

Location: North Carolina (Preference for candidates within a commutable distance to Raleigh, NC)

Alphanumeric Systems is seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Executive to join our team in North Carolina.

Reporting to the Department Manager, this role is critical for driving sustainable financial growth by increasing sales and cultivating strong relationships with existing and new clients. The ideal candidate will act independently, managing end-to-end solutions for strategic opportunities and providing expertise to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

 

Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for selling External Medical Engagement as a Service (EMEaaS), a comprehensive solution designed to enhance Healthcare Provider (HCP) education, medical congress participation, and expert engagement in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.

Our External Medical Engagement services empower organizations to strengthen their relationships with external medical experts and key stakeholders through:
 
 Healthcare Provider (HCP) Education Programs – Development and execution of accredited and non-accredited medical education programs, including speaker training and content development.
 
 Medical Congress Support – End-to-end management of industry conferences, including planning, speaker coordination, content creation, logistics, and post-event analysis.
 
 Engagement Strategy & Execution – Tailored solutions to optimize communication and collaboration with external experts, thought leaders, and key medical stakeholders through data-driven insights and compliance-driven processes.
 
 Advanced Digital & In-Person Engagement Solutions – Providing scalable platforms and technology to streamline external expert engagement, HCP training, and scientific exchange.

By leveraging innovative tools for data analysis, engagement planning, and compliance management, Alphanumeric's External Medical Engagement services help life sciences and pharmaceutical companies improve their external interactions while ensuring regulatory adherence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth by identifying and closing new opportunities for External Medical Engagement services.
  • Develop and implement business strategies focused on financial performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct market research to identify client needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.
  • Schedule and lead business meetings with prospective clients, presenting Alphanumeric's EMEaaS solutions as a key offering.
  • Present and promote Alphanumeric's services, including HCP education programs, medical congress support, and expert engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Medical Affairs, Compliance, and Marketing, to tailor solutions that meet client needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, needs, and proposed solutions.
  • Provide post-sales support and ongoing client engagement to ensure successful implementation of services.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing clients to drive customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and strategic recommendations to clients, demonstrating ROI and value propositions.

 


 
Job Requirements

 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, sales, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Sales Executive, or similar role within pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industries.
  • Strong track record of selling services related to medical education, HCP engagement, or conference/congress solutions.
  • Customer support experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, LinkedIn Navigator).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with senior stakeholders in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • In-depth market knowledge and proficiency in English.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in pharmaceutical sales, medical affairs, or healthcare education is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with medical congress planning, KOL engagement, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial reports and sales performance metrics.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic technical skills to set up and maintain a remote workstation.
  • Hardwired internet connection in a home office.
  • Dedicated, private workspace free from interruptions for professional calls.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a desk, using a computer.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
