Alphanumeric is hiring a Global Sourcing Specialist to work out of Lake Mary, FL with a leading power company. 


Coordinate, direct activities and individuals involved with procuring goods and services such as raw

materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, advertising and other materials.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand, establish and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) for Balance of Plant (BOP) procurements;
  • Establish, evaluate, and select suppliers to develop a qualified supplier base;
  • Base technical knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine auxiliary commodities.
  • Support major procurement activities including procurement of capital equipment and new projects;
  • Problem solving of BOP and procurement issues as they arise;
  • Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories;
  • Review and evaluate monthly global sourcing data to make decisions that support company direction and growth;
  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority;
  • Manage contracts to verify vendor compliance to contract requirements;
  • Maintain informational exchanges and communications with all groups and organizations
  • contributing to the fulfillment of material demands
  • The ability to effectively handle orders with scope and/or contractual requirements of advanced complexity and advanced commercial and/or financial risk.
  • Must have the ability to effectively handle multiple quotes and orders simultaneously and prioritize work based on schedule demands
  • Provide a central point of coordination for the activities in this process
  • Advanced level position requiring knowledge of the organization's business practices and issues while handling requests and providing customer service, guidance, and advanced support for products and/or programs
  • Ability to demonstrate the capability to perform work assignments on a wide variety of tasks with limited supervision
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action;
  • Performance review of suppliers for quality, delivery and reliability;
  • Establish long-term agreements with suppliers;
  • Provide support to upper management in effort to meet corporate goals, objectives and projects;
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.
  • Must have Domestic and International Buying/Purchasing experience and may have to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.
  • Must have handled minimum of $50M USD a year in contracts.
  • Must be able to review and negotiate Terms and Conditions to effectively achieve Company and project targets.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in science or engineering from a four year college or university; or at least 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must have buying purchasing experience in the gas, fuel, oil, energy, gas turbine, steam turbine industries to be considered.

Computer Skills

  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing,
     spreadsheet, and basic database.
