Alphanumeric is hiring a CATEGORY MANAGER - Level 1 to work in Upper Providence, Collegeville, PA with one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

Purpose of the  Role:
* Deliver Capex projects (Capital Expenditure) in United States of America, for Global Supply Chain and WREF (Worldwide Real Estate and Facilities), dealing with complex sourcing, logistics and quality issues in a fast paced and challenging environment
* Ensure successful project delivery (safety, cost, quality, time) against business targets, customer expectations, compliance requirements and total cost of ownership
* Effectively manage stakeholder relationships with internal customers and external suppliers

Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Deliver Capex projects of the region
o Acting as a Global procurement partner supporting Capex projects from earliest project stage
o Accountable to define and execute contracting and procurement strategy of Capex projects (e.g. EPCM, EPC, IPD) taking into account project triggers and according to Category strategies (supported for the packages sourcing by Category owners)
o Accountable for contract management
o Role of sharing of suppliers information/performance/issues with other Category Managers and being supported by them upon request
o Manage relationship with main contractors dedicated to Capex projects and conduct regular business reviews with senior management to ensure requirements are met, employing supplier evaluation and continuous improvement management
o Promote innovation and ideas coming from supplier base to challenge internal position to reduce cost and timing
* Sourcing and Implementation of Capital construction services in the Region
o Capital construction services: Engineering Services, Project Controls and Project Management Service, HVAC and E/I installation, mechanical and piping installation, civil works and cleanrooms installation
o Source: execute competitive selection, negotiation and contract management of selected critical categories
* Support various procurement activities of Facilities Real Estate and Capital Construction Procurement team

This position requires that all workers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and proof of vaccination will be required. Considerations will be made for those seeking Medical Exemption under ADA or Religious exemption under Title VII

Job Requirements


Required Experience & Knowledge:
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Procurement, ideally in Construction or Capex
  • A good understanding about technical categories present within all capital projects: building services and process/biotech equipment, construction and technical contractors
  • Demonstrated category management experience: the candidate has developed and implemented several category strategies - generating value in terms of quality, delivery, cost, contributing significantly to organization's goals and objectives
  • Extensive experience across key procurement processes
  • Category strategy and Category management
  • Request for Information / Request for Proposals / Request for Quotations
  • Negotiation & Contract Management
  • Supplier Performance Evaluation & Supplier Relationship Management
  • Project management of full end-to-end sourcing process on defined purchasing categories
  • Strong Synthesis and analytical skills, ability to extract key information from complex set of data
  • Good project management skills
  • Soft Skills:
  • Good communication skills
  • Easiness to communicate and influence senior stakeholders to develop common strategic agendas to the benefit of the company
  • Autonomous and strong sense of priorities and Leadership skills 
  • Able to develop and present strong arguments to convince of the need for change

Education, Methodology & Certification Requirements:
* Preferred level of education:Bachelors Degree 
* Procurement certification is a plus, e.g.,
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM)
  • Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) / American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)
ICT Skills (software, operating systems, hardware, etc.):
  • SAP
  • MS Office
  • Lean / Six Sigma tools i.e. Value Stream
  • Mapping
