Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Modeler to design and optimize scalable data models that power enterprise analytics and business intelligence. This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, analytics, and business strategy, translating complex data into actionable insights.

You will play a critical role in shaping data structures within a modern Lakehouse environment, enabling high-quality, governed, and performant data solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data structures
  • Partner with stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to define data requirements and solutions
  • Develop and optimize schemas using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold layers)
  • Integrate data across multiple sources ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability
  • Establish and maintain data lineage, metadata, and data governance standards
  • Support master data management (MDM) to create a single source of truth
  • Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and usability
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards
  • Drive continuous improvement of data modeling practices and frameworks

 
Job Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3+ years of data modeling experience in a Lakehouse or modern analytics environment
  • Experience within the insurance industry (P&C, Life, or Healthcare)
  • Strong expertise with data modeling tools (e.g., ER Studio)
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta tables) and PostgreSQL
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and DDL development
  • Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies (Databricks, Spark, AWS, Azure)
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, and data quality frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PII/PHI data governance and security practices
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Spotfire)
  • Understanding of insurance data models, taxonomies, and data quality challenges
  • Experience with ETL processes and data lake architectures

Day-to-Day

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define analytics and reporting needs
  • Design and document data models, relationships, and schemas
  • Partner with engineering teams on data pipelines and integrations
  • Validate and test data structures for accuracy and performance
  • Maintain data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata repositories
  • Support business users with data understanding and best practices
  • Ensure alignment with governance, compliance, and quality standards
