Position: Project Coordinator - Life Sciences (Freelance / 1099) Pay Rate: $35-$45/hour (based on experience) Location: Remote (must be local to Raleigh, NC; occasional onsite meetings required) Type: Freelance / Project-Based Contract
About the Role Alphanumeric is seeking a freelance Project Coordinator with Life Sciences experience to support project execution across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare-related initiatives. This is a 1099 project-based role with fluctuating hours depending on project demands. While the contract has no set end date, the long-term goal is to grow the position into a full-time opportunity in the new year as business expands.
The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in planning, execution, and tracking of Life Sciences projects, ensuring alignment with deliverables, timelines, and budgets, while supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Primary focus: Support the planning, execution, and tracking of Life Sciences projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, on budget, and within scope.
Coordinate project activities including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting action items.
Maintain and update project documentation, status reports, and tracking tools.
Liaise between internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and issue resolution.
Proactively monitor project progress and escalate risks or concerns as needed.
Assist with budgets, invoices, and resource allocation for project activities.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., GxP, FDA, EMA) and internal processes.
Contribute to process improvements by identifying and implementing efficiencies in project workflows.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
3-5 years of project coordination or project management experience in Life Sciences (pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or healthcare-related).
Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables with a strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with regulatory environments, clinical development processes, or laboratory operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (Smartsheet strongly preferred; MS Project, Asana, or similar tools also valuable).
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
PMP, CAPM, or similar certification preferred but not required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
