Job Title: Scientific Knowledge Engineer
Location: Fully Remote
Pay Range: $81 - $87/hour (W2)


About the Role:
Alphanumeric is hiring a Scientific Knowledge Engineer to support our long-term pharmaceutical client dedicated to medical advancements and drug discovery. This role focuses on defining schemas and data models for scientific information, ensuring high-quality data integration to drive innovation in therapeutics and vaccine development.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Modeling & Standardization:

  • Define schemas and data models for scientific information to create high-value data products.
  • Ensure data quality control through validation and verification of mapping specifications.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to industrialize and maintain data models, schemas, and controlled vocabularies.

Business & Technical Collaboration:

  • Work closely with product managers and engineers to translate business needs into defined, actionable requirements.
  • Support the integration of large-scale biology data to predict, model, and stabilize protein complex and antigen conformations for drug and vaccine discovery.

Data Standards & Ontologies:

  • Align internal data standards with industry and academic ontologies for seamless integration.
  • Provide expertise in data profiling and best practices to optimize R&D data usage.

Data Ingestion & Automation:

  • Ensure scientific data meets metadata and indexing requirements for seamless ingestion into platform engineering tools.
  • Communicate engineering standards and metadata requirements to third parties to enable scalable and automated data ingestion.

Scientific Expertise & Insights:

  • Act as a subject matter expert, translating complex scientific concepts into structured data for actionable insights.

 
Aptitudes Requises

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or Computer Science (with a life sciences application focus).

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in data modeling, standardization, and integration.
  • Experience working with scientific data ontologies and controlled vocabularies.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product managers, to drive data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in data quality validation.

Note: This is a W2 position.
