Alphanumeric is hiring a PRODUCT MANAGER to work out of the Cambridge, MA area with our client of 20 years committed to improving lives through medical and pharmaceutical advancements.

We are a full-stack organization consisting of product and portfolio leadership, data engineering, infrastructure and DevOps, data / metadata / knowledge platforms, and AI/ML and analysis platforms, all geared toward:

Onyx Product Management is at the heart of our mission, ensuring that everything from our infrastructure, to platforms, to end-user facing data assets and environments is designed to maximize our impact on R&D. The Product Management team partners with R&D stakeholders and Onyx leadership to develop a strategic roadmap for all customer-facing aspects of Onyx, including data assets, search engines, ontologies, semantics, compute/analysis platforms, and data-powered applications.

We are seeking an accomplished Product Manager II for our Search Platform & Products, a subset of our Data and Knowledge Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for refining and executing the product roadmap of our Search Platform & Products to meet customer needs. You will collaborate closely with users & leaders across Onyx's customer organizations, including AIML, various R&D teams focused on data-driven drug discovery, as well as our portfolio management and engineering teams. Your primary objective will be to thoughtfully craft requirements for products that will make structured & unstructured more discoverable and actionable.

Your responsibilities will encompass conducting user research, refining the product roadmap, overseeing successful product launches, and driving user adoption of our Search Products. A key aspect of your role will involve creating metrics and measuring the value your products bring to researchers. Your leadership will be crucial in translating customer needs into requirements aligned with standard frameworks, ensuring that our data-savvy customers receive tailored solutions for their success.

After the initial contract is completed, there will be an opportunity to transition from contract worker to full time employee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Product Strategy and Roadmap: Refine and execute our Search Platform Product roadmap, aligned with the Data & Knowledge Platform and Onyx's overall vision.
* Customer Understanding: Conduct in-depth customer research, gather customer insights, engage with customers regularly, and share your findings with the team.
* Product Planning and Definition: Collaborate with stakeholders to define product requirements, features, and specifications based on customer feedback, product vision, and business goals.
* Agile Product Development: Work closely with portfolio and engineering teams in an agile environment to ensure successful and timely delivery of product releases, including prioritization, sprint planning, and backlog management.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Onyx engineering teams, R&D Tech, Research Units, and portfolio teams to ensure successful product development and deployment.
* Product Launch and Adoption: Lead product launches, ensuring effective communication, training, and support materials to drive successful product adoption and customer satisfaction.
* Product Performance and Optimization: Continuously monitor product performance, collect and analyze data, and drive iterative improvements to enhance product usability, performance, and customer experience.
* Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including senior technology leadership and customer organizations to provide updates on product performance, roadmap, and plans.
* Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the data and knowledge graph space. Share insights and act as a thought leader within the organization and industry events.

Job Requirements

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Life Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related discipline
* 4+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree
* 2+ years of professional experience with a Master's degree
* 2+ years of professional experience as a product management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Knowledge:
o Strong understanding of search engines, text & information retrieval, personalization / recommendation systems, metadata management, and data governance.
o Product development experience in data platforms, metadata management, semantically enhanced data, metadata harmonization, ontologies is strongly preferred.
o Deep knowledge of modern software development tools and best practices (e.g. git/GitHub, Docker, DevOps tools, monitoring, CI/CD?)
o Strong understanding of data engineering tools (e.g. Spark, Airflow, Google BigQuery, SQL/NoSQL, Graph Databases); working knowledge with at least one programming or analysis language (e.g. Python, Java, Scala, SQL, R)
o Demonstrated Cloud experience (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
o Demonstrated excellence with agile software development environments using tools like Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops
o Familiarity with life science/biological data is a plus


* Experience as a product manager on data-centric SaaS products, preferably within an analytical or technical domain.
* Experience at a startup or young organization where your products are early-stage, organizational processes are in-development, and the product opportunity is immense.
* Proven track record of successfully launching and managing high-stake, enterprise products for data engineering, data science, data analytics, and/or scientific research.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
* Experience building user interfaces that distill complex technologies into streamlined user experiences.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong leadership abilities and a self-driven, proactive approach.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Ability to distill complex user requirements and decompose them into product features.
