The Community School Family Worker will provide students with an array of services, which addresses those issues that are keeping students from succeeding.  The Family Worker is responsible to provide attendance improvement services to program students.  He/She will provide these services to students identified by the school / Mental Health  administration using the cohort criteria selection.  Program students to be served are those that have low attendance and/or a history of lateness or cutting classes.  The goal is to provide families with attendance outreach services, (mailings, phone calls, home visits) that address those issues that are keeping students from succeeding.

The salary is $33,000/Annually

 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide daily attendance outreach & Collect student daily attendance
 
  • Conduct home visits to students and their families as referred by Social Worker and/or Program Counselor
 
  • Record all home visits, telephone and mailings on daily logs and summary logs
 
  • Maintain updated phone and mailing address for all families of program students
 
  • Provide updates on issues that may be effecting the student to the Social Worker, Counselors,   and School Attendance Coordinator
 
  • Assist the student and families in obtaining attendance goals identified by the Program Social Worker and/or  Counselor
 
  • Input and update in attendance  database
 
  • Provide administrative assistance to departmental staff within assigned program areas to support the accomplishment of program objectives; develop, coordinate and advise staff regarding program policy.
 
  • Develop, plan, coordinate and implement activities including, but not limited to, seminars, parent & student workshops, short courses, clubs, shows, public events and other related programs; develop and coordinate new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components and curriculum. 
    • Coordinate and/or participate in public relations activities to include preparing and supervising the production of brochures, bulletins, newsletters and other promotional materials and/or publications, preparing press releases, designing ads and fliers, and responding to inquiries; develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials. 
  •  
    • Represent assigned programs on behalf of the director to the ACDP and the public; serve on various committees and attend professional meetings as appropriate. 
  •  
    • Maintain liaison with other programs, offices and departments to coordinate program business and to accomplish program objectives; interface with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized. 
  •  
    • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. 
  •  
     
    • Volunteer for one day a year in an ACDP sponsored activity
  •  
    • Promote and support ACDP's mission and vision
  •  
    • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned 
 
  
QUALIFICATIONS
  •  Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a minimum of high school diploma.  
  • Work requires one year of experience working within community involvement field, youths and residents.  OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
